Summer jobs for 14 year old teensWhen it comes to 14 and 15 year old teens, finding summer jobs for teens usually limit them to the malls, where competition is very stiff and it's almost impossible to land the job they want. But don't get discouraged, there's no need to pull out the lemonade stand yet. You're heading to high school next fall, but before that you'll need to make money for the summer for basic entertainment and clothing needs. You'll need to find summer jobs for teens that allow you to work but still have time for fun with family and friends.

Here are two special summer jobs for teens that work very well for 14 and 15 year old teens:

1) Lifeguard

Living near a coastal or beach area, or a community swimming pool is a huge plus. One great job is to become a lifeguard. The biggest requirement of course is that you must be able to swim very well. Lifeguarding is one of the best jobs that you can do as a 14 year old teen because you really get to have fun and excitement and you learn a lot of responsibility, by protecting people's lives.

In order to become a lifeguard you have to take a certification course, plus you also need to prove that you are a more than adequate swimmer. As far as how much you would get paid as a lifeguard it all depends on the state that you live in and whether your area is saturated with lifeguards or not, but generally the range of pay for lifeguards starts at minimum wage and goes all the way up to $20 an hour, but like I said again you need to do some homework and ask around about the pay in your area, but if you're looking for a great job in which you mostly sit around all day and get a great tan than being a lifeguard is just the thing for you.

2) Web Design Freelancer

Most 14 year olds are very computer literate, and internet savvy, and many have experience building their own blogs and free websites through social networks. If you possess these skills then you could work as a  freelance web designer.  Many individuals and small home business owners need a simple website with basic information about their services and how to contact them. Create business cards and promotional flyers about your website design service, and hand them out  at supermarkets and coffee shops. Also check popular online job posting forums and you'll generally find many people who need simple websites built.

You set your own hours and work when you want to work, as you stay in touch with your client. You don't even have to work on weekends unless you want to. You can make upwards of $200 to $800 per website built. But a make sure you DO NOT take on more than you can really handle. Your customers will generally request small updates frequently, so its very important to be able to maintain the website for them. The plus is that you also can charge them each time you update their website.

Summer break is right around the corner and I really need to find a good job that pays something decent for teens. I'm only 16 years old and live in Michigan. The jobs up here are pretty hard to come by to begin with even for people over 18.

can a 14 year old make their own online store or is there like an age requirement. And is credit cards involved? Ned to know, I want to set up my own website to sell handmade stuff since I'm pretty good with sculpting stuff and designing things.

Hey Mitch of course you can sell your stuff on your own online store. The catch is you have to be 18 years old to sell any type of item on most websites. But you can still setup your store in your mother or legal guardian's name. You can either sell the items on an auction site like Ebay using Paypal or sell the items directly from your own website. If you want your own website like (www. yourname .com) store, you have to build the site first which takes a lot more work. I'd suggest you setup your store on a site like Ebay or one of their major competitors first. They have all the tools ready built for you. You just have to setup an account with your mom or guardian over 18, then add your items for sale. Good luck with that buddy, I like your entrepreneur spirit.

It sucks that my twin 10 year olds can't make money any of these ways yet. I don't know where they get it from but these boys are the two biggest little hustlers I've ever seen. They constantly talk about saving and making money. Maybe it's all that Sponge Bob Mr Krabs money talk they hear on TV.

This might be a long stretch, but I know its hard to find good jobs for 14 year olds, but are there any scholarships for 14 yr olds. Just curious to know. I'm starting early trying to figure out all the ways to pay for my future education and possibly get rich before I reach my Twenties.

What are some good teen summer part time jobs nyc? I wanna have something good for the summer, where I can make some good change for my first car. My parents are willing to buy ti for me if I can work for the insurance money. Any referrals would be much appreciated.

Dude since you're getting your first car, I'm gonna assume you're close to 17 or older right. You can work in a gym or do stock at an auto parts store, like strauss or something. I work in a gym so thats why I'm suggesting that. Like just restocking weights after people use them and keeping them clean so no germs get spread around. Its really decent money and you get to see a ridiculous amount of hot chicks workout. Just my suggestion.

These are quite some unique jobs for teens. I know how to swim really well but I don't think I'd want to be a lifeguard. If anything I'll probably be the one needing rescue as I'm such a girly girl. Break my nail and we'll get in a fight. But the internet thing I can handle, i'm really good with computers and setting up social networks and websites. Nowadays, which teen isn't. We're all so wired its crazy.
