Beyonce and Taylor Swift Leads Grammy NominationsBeyonce and Taylor Swift have a lot to smaile about right now, as its just been announced they are at the front of pack with the most nominations for the 2009 Grammy Awards.

In what seems to be a rematch of the 2009 MTV Music Awards minus Kanye West (hopefully), Beyonce and Taylor Swift will once again go head to head for the top awards in Music Entertainment.

"Don't worry, Taylor. Kanye West is not here," Smokey Robinson joked as he announced one category during the live Grammy nomination telecast from Los Angeles, California, Wednesday night.

Only seven of the 109 Grammy categories were announced during the CBS telecast, and the rest of the nominations were on 66 pages of paper given to reporters.

Beyonce garnered 10 nominations, and Taylor Swift, brought in 8 categories. Kanye West got six Grammy nominations, but all were for his collaborations with other artists.

He got shut out of all nominations for his solo performances, with many suggesting was a result of his 2009 VMA stage crashing.

Lady Gaga was also nominated for the same three categories as Swift and Beyonce. Her single "Poker Face" and album "The Fame"gave her to five nominations in all.

Taylor Swift, just days away from her 20th birthday, crossed genre lines to take top honors at the MTV Music Video Awards, the American Music Awards and the Country Music Awards recently.

Canadian rapper Drake got two Grammy nominations -- for best rap song and best rap solo performance -- despite the fact he's never released an album.

Drake's hit "Best I Ever Had" was only released on a mix tape. He plans to release his solo album in March 2010. "It's very surreal," Drake told reporters of his nominations.

The Black Eyed Peas earned six nominations, including a record of the year nomination for their hit "I Gotta Feeling." "With the recession and this environment, it really felt like people needed a pick-me-up and kind of an escape to feel good," Black Eyed Peas member Fergie said about the hit single.

Other members of the Recording Academy such as producers and engineers get their Grammy ballots in two weeks.

The 52nd Grammy Awards  will be broadcasted live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on January 31, 2010.
